Diamond Head Theatre’s ambitious campus-wide capital campaign to reimagine the theatre center enters its second phase in March 2023. Theatrical Arts Building (TAB) was built 40 years ago in 1983 and has served as the humble home for the nonprofit’s costume center, scene shop, rehearsal hall and education programs. This building is where DHT’s magic is made.

A newly reimagined space that will best serve the community is in the works and will include:

  • More education space, including two renovated and expanded studios that will cultivate community talent, host classes of all ages and show rehearsals.
  • A state-of-the-art costume center dedicated to professional costuming for shows and will also serve as a resource for schools, drama clubs and other local theaters. DHT holds Hawaii’s largest collection of costumes including vintage archival pieces from some of its earliest shows.
  • Offices for the those who have been housed off-site since the demolition of Ruger Theatre.
  • In addition, major infrastructure improvements will include waterproofing, reinforcing the building, and installing air conditioning.

Since the end of Phase I in January 2023, DHT has raised 27 percent of the anticipated $4.65 million required for Phase II. You can support our capital campaign and make a gift here.
