Get ready—everyone’s favorite absorbent, yellow and relentlessly optimistic sponge is making a splash on stage! The SpongeBob Musical is coming to Diamond Head Theatre from July 18 to August 3, 2025, and it’s set to be the ultimate summer event for audiences of all ages.
Based on the beloved Nickelodeon animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg, The SpongeBob Musical plunges audiences into an undersea adventure full of heart, humor and unforgettable music. When a looming volcanic eruption threatens to wipe out Bikini Bottom, it's up to SpongeBob and his quirky crew of friends to step up and save the day. In a world on the brink of disaster, one sponge proves that even the smallest hero can make the biggest difference.
The vibrant cast features Chad Navarro as the ever-cheerful SpongeBob SquarePants, Zack Oldham as the loyal Patrick Star, Nathaniel Ryan-Kern as the uptight Squidward Q. Tentacles, Mehana Stone as the fearless Sandy Cheeks, Lee Nebe as the penny-pinching Eugene H. Krabs and Presley Wheeler as the scheming Sheldon Plankton. Also bringing Bikini Bottom to life are Aiko Schick as Karen the Computer, Sage Nguyen as Pearl Krabs, and Lainey Hicks as Mrs. Puff, supported by a dynamic ensemble cast.
At the front of this exciting production is Greg Zane, serving as both director and choreographer. A seasoned theatre professional, Zane brings extensive experience from Broadway and Hawaii’s local stages. His impressive credits include international productions of The King and I on Broadway and in London’s West End. At Diamond Head Theatre, his work has been honored with multiple Poʻokela Awards for acclaimed productions such as Singin’ in the Rain and Flower Drum Song.
Adding even more star power to this undersea adventure is an original score packed with songs by an all-star lineup of music icons—Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, David Bowie and many more. With dazzling costumes, inventive choreography and a powerful message of hope and unity, The SpongeBob Musical is a celebration of friendship, community and believing in yourself—even when the odds are stacked against you.
