Musical Theatre Experience
Ages 7-12: 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm

The course is designed to provide a fun-filled experience which includes theatre games, improvisations, vocal and physical exercises, introductory ear training, dance styles and technique, plus much, much more!

Mathias Maas started his theatre career in his fourth grade production of Cinderella. He worked at Honolulu Theatre for Youth for 8 years, assisting with their youth theatre productions such as Young at Art, and their Summer Session Programming. He also taught Punahou summer school Intro to Drama for two years. Mathias is a member of the dance-mask-theatre troupe Monkey Waterfall, a member of Hālau Mohala ‘Ilima, and a regular actor-improvisor for the Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at Dave & Busters. Performing credits include August: Osage County (MVT), Around the World in 80 Days (MVT), Ibsen’s Ghosts (TAG), The Sound of Music (DHT), The Reindeer Monologues (HRT), Frost/Nixon (MVT), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (HSF), King Lear (HSF), and The Joy Luck Club (KKT).
Nanilisa Pascua received her Bachelors degree in Music from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Nanilisa is a music educator in the public school system and teaches private voice and vocal coaches at the Craig Young School of Music. She served as musical director for Manoa Valley Theatre’s Footloose, appeared most recently as “Grandma Rosie” in Diamond Head Theatre’s The Wedding Singer, and in Lee Cataluna’s musical Ulua at Kumu Kahua Theatre. Nanilisa is the musical director for Kaimuki High School Performing Arts Center’s seasonal student productions. Nanilisa has also been musical director for the DHT Shooting Stars since its inception.
Yvonne Yanagihara has a Bachelors degree in Marketing with a minor in Dance from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her dance training began with ballet, tap and jazz. She was the ballet instructor at SeaWorld in Florida and Columbus Dance Center in 1987, and was the dance instructor at the American School In Japan for four summers in the early 1990s. Locally, Yvonne has taught Rosalie Woodson Dance Academy, Nix Dance, and The Movement Center. She teaches Creative Dance for babies at Ballet Hawaii, and has performed in many Diamond Head Theatre musicals and with ‘Ohi‘a Productions.
