September 2025 — Diamond Head Theatre kicks off its 2025–2026 season with the acclaimed Broadway musical Come From Away, opening in Honolulu on September 12 and running through September 28, with a possible extension. Set in the days following the September 11 attacks, this award-winning musical tells the true story of how the small town of Gander, Newfoundland welcomed over 6,000 stranded airline passengers after U.S. airspace was closed. With a population of just 10,000, the town rallied together to provide shelter, food, and kindness during a time of global crisis.
Written by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Come From Away is a powerful and uplifting story about community, compassion, and human resilience. Its vibrant folk-rock score and real-life characters have made it a favorite with audiences worldwide.
Chelsea LeValley leads the Honolulu production as director, choreographer, and actor, playing the role of Beverley Bass, the first female captain of an American commercial airline. LeValley, originally from Ohio and now based in Idaho, previously toured nationally with Come From Away and met many of the real-life individuals whose stories inspired the show—including Beverley herself.
Now performing in Hawaii—a place she’s long dreamed of working—LeValley brings personal connection, authenticity, and passion to this unforgettable story.
