Diamond Head Theatre is an experiential learning center where people come together to sing, dance and act. Our classes are offered year-round and sell out quickly. LET’S SING,
DANCE & ACT
TEENS & ADULTS
Build self-confidence and develop skills as an actor. This class will heighten the senses and imagination and will cover a variety of acting styles.
Spring 2024 Session (10 Weeks)

Acting for High School students will build self-confidence and develop your skills as an actor. This class will heighten the senses and imagination, and will cover a variety of acting styles. Students will learn theatre terminology and how to audition for musicals and plays.

This is one of our most popular classes. Whether you’re an experienced pro or a newcomer to the stage, you’ll have a ball learning the dance styles used in theatre today, helping you become the performer who gets the part.

This class is designed to give students more self-confidence and a better understanding of vocal techniques and dynamics. Vocal instruction, proper breathing, vocal production, and vocal techniques will be covered.

Daytime Broadway Dance (a fantastic dance class specifically for students Ages 60+) will incorporate all styles of dance associated with Broadway. This class is perfect for all levels – no experience necessary!
Spring 2024 Session (10 Weeks)
Wednesdays, April 3 – June 5, 10:30am – 12pm
Instructor: Anna Motteler
Adult students will learn and review basic ballet vocabulary, steps, body positions, techniques, styles and musicality while building strength and flexibility in a one hour barre and half hour center, utilizing ballet and popular Broadway musical theatre music. No previous dance experience or training is necessary. Leather or canvas ballet slippers are required. Dance or yoga wear is preferred.

Thursdays, April 4 – June 6, 11:15am – 12:45pm

Adult students will learn and review basic musical theatre tap vocabulary, steps, combinations, and techniques while improving balance and coordination in a one hour class utilizing popular Broadway music. No previous dance experience or training is necessary. Tap shoes required; oxford style tap shoes preferred for support, balance, and sound quality.

Silver Stars is a gold-standard dance class for those 60+ years old. This class incorporates stretching, some technique and a fun dance combination.

An action-packed hour of rhythmic fun that caters to all levels. Class consists of warm-up, multi-level technique, carious level-specific “across the floor” combos, and finish with a fun weekly combo.

Musical Theatre Jazz Dance is a combination of dance styles focused on choreography for the stage. The class will include a warm-up built with stretching, conditioning, and technique; set to popular Broadway tunes. Learn musical theatre routines, vocabulary, musicality, and performance for the Broadway stage.

Class Instructors
Our classes offer access to some of the most talented in Hawaii. Our teachers know how to bring out your best performance.
POLICIES
- Registration accepted through each session’s first class
- $25 fee for returned checks
- Schedules are subject to change
- If classes cancel due to low enrollment, full refund given
- All students and observers must follow classroom etiquette
- Cancelation Terms: Full refund for 48 hours prior to first day. Less $25 if canceling less than 48 hours prior to first day. No refunds after second class.
- Priority registration is given to previous students before opening to the public.
- If a class has a wait list, open spots will be offered to those on the list before being opened to the public in the order names are received.
- Each session starts with a new wait list; previous wait lists do not carry over.
- When offered a spot, you have 24 hours to respond and accept or decline the spot. Or the spot will be offered to the next person waiting.
- You are allowed to defer your name to the next session (i.e. if a spot is offered to you for Summer but does not work for your schedule you will be given the option to remain on the list for the Fall session).
- If you have been contacted twice about an available spot, you will be moved to the bottom of the wait list. (If you have been contacted with no response 4 times or more, you will be removed completely. You can be added back to the waiting list at your request, but will be added to the bottom of the list.)
- Parent Observation: Invitation by instructor only.
- Final Sharing Time: Some classes will end with a final presentation on what has been learned. You will be notified by the instructor or education manager if that’s the case.
- We ask that all students arrive with all supplies, clothing, etc. required of each class.
- Refrain from bringing valuables to class.
- Wear proper footwear. If no specific shoe is required, close-toed shoes are to be worn. For all classes on stage, close-toed shoes are required.
