Ages 7-11: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Ages 12-16: 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

The class covers the basic aspects of musical theatre:

ACTING: Theatre exercises, working on motivation, speaking skills, monologues, scenes, characterization and group presentations.

DANCING: Basic theatre movements, expressing feeling and stories through movement, and integrating dance into musical theatre scenes.

SINGING: Basic musical theatre singing, technique, annunciation, and working on the basics of voice preparation.

Mathias Maas started his theatre career in his fourth grade production of Cinderella. He worked at Honolulu Theatre for Youth for 8 years, assisting with their youth theatre productions such as Young at Art, and their Summer Session Programming.  He also taught Punahou summer school Intro to Drama for two years.  Mathias is a member of the dance-mask-theatre troupe Monkey Waterfall, a member of Hālau Mohala ‘Ilima, and a regular actor-improvisor for the Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at Dave & Busters.  Performing credits include August: Osage County (MVT), Around the World in 80 Days (MVT), Ibsen’s Ghosts (TAG), The Sound of Music (DHT), The Reindeer Monologues (HRT), Frost/Nixon (MVT), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (HSF), King Lear (HSF), and The Joy Luck Club (KKT).


Erin McFadden began dancing at eight in Southern California.  She began in tap and jazz and soon fell in love with dance.  She has studied tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and modern.  She fell in love with musical theater when she did Godspell at age nine and has done shows like 42nd Street, Aladdin, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Urinetown and Hairspray. Recently she has performed in UHM’s Oklahoma and DHT’s productions of Show Boat, Catch Me If You Can, White Christmas and 42nd Street
