Pirate Combat:  Sword Fighting for the Stage

Dates:   Monday, April 12, 19 & 16
Times:  7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Location: DHT Rehearsal Hall
Ages: 16 years and up, or instructor's approval
Cost:  $90 for all 3 classes or $35 for each class

With "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" headed to Hawaii, pirate fever is at an all time high! Here is your chance to learn how to hack and slash your way into swordplay for the stage and screen. This course will teach basic cuts, thrusts, on guards and parries of sword play. Emphasis will be placed on safety and accuracy as well as dramatic intentions for fight scenes. Participants must bring full-fingered gloves. Class is limited to 12 people.

 

 

Thomas McCurdy

Thomas McCurdy is an Associate Instructor of Stage Combat with Dueling Arts International. He has also been an assistant fight choreographer for the Hawaii Shakespeare Festival and aided with various fight scenes in DHT's Les Misérables.

Thomas has appeared on various Oahu stages in Gypsy, Duck Hunter Shoots Angel, and as the lead role of "Robbie Hart" in The Wedding Singer.
