YEAR-ROUND PERFORMING ARTS
EDUCATION PROGRAM PLUS ENHANCED CURRICULUM
Honolulu, HI, September
8, 2006-Diamond Head Theatre (DHT) will now offer
a year-round performing arts education program, plus an enhanced
curriculum for home-schooled children and special classes for autistic
children.
" We are really pleased with our expanded curriculum and we
felt with everyone’s overscheduled lives, it would be nice
to be able to plan a year of classes” says Kelly Moulson,
DHT's Director of Education. “Plus signing up for a full year
saves 20%!” Accompanying the year-round curriculum is a new
full education catalogue (available for the asking by mail or via
our website at www.diamondheadtheatre.com.)
The home school program, started in 2002, has been an unqualified
success, providing home-schoolers socialization opportunities in
addition to classes is acting, singing and dancing. This year DHT
has added more sessions and more choices.
Another special offering, by noted instructor and theatre director,
Bill Ogilvie, is the class in Creative Drama, for children with
high-function Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. Ogilive has
taught similar classes for several years at local high schools.
Using theater exercises, games, skits, puppets, music improvisation
and short plays, the classes allow these children to acquire the
tools to learn how to express themselves, understand others and
become better adjusted to the world at large.
The DHT performing arts program class start dates vary, with some
beginning the week of September 11, 2006. Enrollment is currently
open for all levels. For further information, see our website: wwwdiamondheadtheatre.com
