"SWEET CHARITY" OPENING AT DIAMOND HEAD THEATRE

Honolulu, HI, March 1, 2007 —Diamond Head Theatre's next production, SWEET CHARITY, opens on Friday, March 23, 2007.

Still fresh from its acclaimed Broadway revival starring Christina Applegate, SWEET CHARITY tells the story of Charity Hope Valentine, an optimistic, beautiful young girl who works as a dance hostess and is looking for love, unfortunately, in mostly all the wrong places. Though every "Big Spender" she meets breaks her heart, she continues to be hopeful that one day the man of her dreams will come barreling out of a door and knock her off her feet…and he does…literally. But is he the one?

Featuring a hilarious book by Neil Simon, score by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, SWEET CHARITY includes the show-stopping numbers "If My Friends Could See Me Now", "Big Spender", and "Where Am I Going?"

Guest directed and choreographed by Andrew Sakaguchi with musical direction by Alethea Train, the show features Kristin Ing as Charity Hope Valentine, Ahnya Chang as Nickie, Kathryn Mariko Lee as Helene, Brent Yoshikami as Oscar, Scott Wallace as Vittorio Vidal, Scott Moura as Herman, Tony Young as Daddy Brubeck/Ensemble, and Tricia Marciel as Ursula/Ensemble.

The ensemble includes: Beri Brown, Aaron Komo, Sandra W. Lee, Niki Libarios, Twan Matthews, Shea Reiner Mounts, Autumn Ogawa, Danielle Rabinovitch, John Roberts, Alicia Scanlan, Kalei Talwar, Heather Taylor and John Tolentino.

The creative team is comprised of set designer Willie Sabel, costume designer Karen G. Wolfe, lighting designer Dawn Oshima, sound designer Mikel Humerickhouse, make-up and hair designer Jess Aki, props designer Lisa Konove, and production stage manager Chesley Cannon.

SWEET CHARITY will run from March 23 - April 8, 2007 with shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sundays. Saturday matinees at 3 p.m. are on March 31 and April 7.
