In April 1915, a new theatrical
group called The Footlights was born when Will Lewers, Mrs.
Walter F. Dillingham, Helen Alexander, Margaret Center and Gerrit
Wilder appeared in The Amazons by Pinero.
This
season, as we celebrate 90 years since the founding of The Footlights,
we remember the legacy of those original theatre lovers and
celebrate the organization now known as Diamond Head Theatre.
We are the third-oldest, continuously operating theatre in the
entire United States. And we are proud of it.
As we opened our 90th Anniversary
Season on
September
24, 2004 with Anything Goes, DHT Artistic Director John
Rampage and members of the DHT Shooting Stars rolled out a birthday
cake and led the house in singing Happy Birthday.
At intermission, guests were treated to birthday cake and refreshments.
DHT
will be celebrating its 90th Anniversary throughout the season
with special events, such as the 90th
Birthday Bash on April 30, 2005 at Waialae Country Club.
